There are a lot
of different topics in my head, which could be covered in this blog, but for some reason my hand stretched out to write specifically about Moscow.
If you ask about what kind of city Moscow is, I will answer: "Moscow spoils people." Yes, I am considering this city is such a way. I myself come here, come with my friends and close people me, here I’ve met with visitors like me, and now after six years, I can say that Moscow spoils people.
Sometimes it fell upon me to argue with one of my very closest friend, who was born here and has been living during all her life, that Moscow - a city where people are different from other citizens of Russia. She takes offense at me, and she is right - it is her city, she must defend it. But when people ask me if I was born here, I usually reply, "Thanks God - NO." And when I tell this I'm not trying to show any contempt for this city, no, I just always find myself thinking about what I have another place to get away from this city, and those who were born here usually don’t, and this I feel sorry for them.
Having moved in here in quite conscious age, I can make an objective opinion about what is good, that is bad about Moscow. But I want to make a note, when I say that "Moscow spoils people", I do not mean walls of the city, its streets, its rivers, ponds, etc., I mean people.
Perhaps there are a lot of them (well...already us) here in Moscow. The critical mass of people has overcame a red line a long time, so we are fighting for a place on the subway car (for 10 sq.sm), fighting for a step on escalator, fighting for none can climb into a queue you are staying in for ten minutes or more.
That that's the thing - we're fighting here. I'm tired of someone pulls me, catches my tights in subway car, coming on my foot and not apologizing. I'm so not used to it and do not want be used to. If I have inadvertently violated someone’s comfort and privacy, I must apologize, but in turn I will get a wolf's eye-blink, especially when it comes to a person of 45-55 years old.
Work
experience received in a different city is equal to zero. Diploma
received in another city (with a few exceptions) is equal to zero, or equal to a
culinary college diploma. At
the interview I may be asked if I want to have children and when I want to have
them. The
change could be not given if it is less than 50 kopeek (NOTE: 100 kopeek=1 RUB). If
you are from REGIONS, you "should stand in the end of queue and skip the
Muscovites (reference to socket of Master's program in Moscow State University,
by the way), etc.
An individual theme is migrant workers. Two years ago, I caught myself thinking that 60% of people if a subway car are immigrants from Central Asia. They had lively talk, smiled, hugged, flirted boasting golden decoration and teeth, and at the same time with no twinge of conscience they could spit on the left and right, scratch intimate parts of body. There were not so many gustarbiters when I had just moved in Moscow! We are close to them in subway, walk on same roads, sometimes eat in same McDonald's. But at the same time we do not think of them as of real people, look at them as inanimate scenery of the city.
Perhaps
most offensive to me in this city - is the transformation of relationships
between people: many living in here begin evaluate all aspects of life with money.
"Will
come, help to do smthng? .." -
"Find the professionals, and even if I come to you through whole Moscow,
help and go back, it will take at least three hours!!!". It could be a
situation when I myself would not want me to be pulled from the usual schedule
of life, crazy btw, but if you arrange if with me in advance, at least before a
week - I can help. And
if it is an urgent matter, my friends know ne – I’ll give up everything and
come. In general, I feel
lack of humanity in Moscow.

I
remembered a story told be a great teacher of Russian language in my 7-11
grades Serovf Nina Nikolaevna (a wonderful woman, I’m proud of that I have
learned something from her). She
told during one of our lessons, as her friend, a woman in a very advanced age,
was forced to go to hospital in the morning rush hour with her grandson. She
understood well that a very few people would be happy to see in a bus an old
lady with a small child (4-5 y.o) in a crush. So
she asked her grandson to say loudly, "Hello, PEOPLE!" when they
enter a bus. The
boy said it with great enthusiasm, and people smiled and this morning they were
a little kinder to each other and the whole world.
However, I do not want to say that Moscow - this is a horrible city, otherwise I would not then lived here.
I can buy a 24/7 something to eat, drink and some necessary medicine and even sporting goods. Believe me, this is great benefit, which id deprived for inhabitants of towns with population less than 500-600 thousand people. If I would be given the fluff by one employee this day -on the next day I’ll knock in another place.
In Moscow you can visit a lot of concerts, performances and festivals. The concentration of classical museums and museums of modern art just rolls over.
In Moscow you can satisfy a want of any hobby you have or even a thrust open to another which existence you was not aware about while living in your place of birth.
In Moscow you can find bike paths, even you should really search for them. Here you can ride on rollers and board.
Well, in general, is an ancient city: great architecture, nice streets, beautiful parks, and when it is spring and everything is blooming – it’s just amazing. And the parks! Caricino alone worth a lot:). Finally the great history of a place is so attractive ...
I just need remind myself often about city’s beauty for Moscow doesn’t spoil me.
